HOW IT ALL BEGUN

Niško beer, a recognizable brand of beer from the south of Serbia, has been nurtured and preserved since 1884, when it was first produced according to the recipe of Johan Appel, who built the first Nis industrial company – Steam Brewery, with a capacity of 20 hectoliters per day. Jovan Appel also had a brewery in Aleksinac, with a “cauldron from Šimelbuš” in Vienna.

Throughout its long history, Niško and other brands of Niška pivara have undergone changes that Niška pivara itself has gone through. Through its ups and downs, Niško beer has survived, remaining close to the people of southern Serbia.

YEAR 1925

The brewery is being leased for ten years by a well-known industrialist, Dr. Geodon Dundjerski, the owner of the brewery in Veliki Bečkerek. “Sending beer on a phone call” is published. Beer pouring begins in the hall of the “Europe” hotel, at a ceremony with 300 guests

1930

YEAR 1930

At the Second National Economic Exhibition in Skopje, Niška pivara Lazar Dundjerski was awarded a gold medal. This is the reason why the Brewery is starting to “recommend its” first-class yellow salon and black bok-beer to all consumers. “

YEAR 1935

Dr. Geodon Dundjerski returns the Brewery to Jovan Appel (son of Josif Appel, grandson of Jovan Appel), who bought the parts from the co-owners and became the sole owner. Jovan Appel’s brewery “Apelovac” from Nis is being created.

The brewery is experiencing a renaissance. New investment venture, new bottling plant and cellar for “beer maturation”. New varion basement, new fuel oil boiler.

Realized new investment program. Capacity increase, market expansion, chemical and microbiological analyzes are performed, necessary for monitoring the quality of beer. A total of 212 employees

1994

YEAR 1994

Number of employees 500, welding plant capacity 500 thousand hectoliters, drainage lines 250 thousand, forthcoming investments in removing this bottleneck, further significant investments.

2016

YEAR 2016

Niško beer was returned to the market in June 2016. Nurturing the spirit of the tradition of Johan Appel’s original recipe, today it respects the top quality standards that its consumers deserve.

2018

YEAR 2018

In March 2018, it presents consumers with a new visual identity that follows modern trends and reflects the degree of commitment to every aspect of production.
